About Me

Kayla Anderson - CPDT-KA, CCBS, CTDI, CCC, CGC evaluator, Stunt dog judge

Kayla has been professionally working with and training dogs for over 7 years. She started at the Peninsula Humane in the behavior department where she evaluated and trained dogs in the shelter. During this time, she attended the Trish King Academy learning hands on techniques to become a Certified Canine Behavior Specialist. She then moved to the Arizona Humane Society working in the behavior department with both the shelter dogs and teaching public dog training classes. She continued on to earn multiple nationally recognized certifications for dog training and behavior. Kayla continues to attend conferences and seminars as dog training is continuously changing with new research and information. She services the metro Phoenix area for group classes and private lessons.

Obtaining numerous certifications from Trish King - professional behaviorlist and trainer, I continued forward with my career. I'm an evaluator for Canine Good Citizens, certified trick dog trainer and hold many certifications in specialized classes in dealing with shelter dogs and behavior issues. I am currently a full time Animal Control Officer and work with animals expressing all levels of aggression, fear and reactivness.

Kayla believes in focusing on the dog-human relationship and mutual trust when training dogs. When using training methods, she always starts with the least aversive techniques and makes adjustments and recommendations based on progress. The most important component to her methods is finding what motivates each dog as an individual. Each dog has an individual personality and she wants to cater to that. We want our dogs to follow directions because they want to and look forward to their reward, not out of fear of what could happen if they don’t. Training should always be a fun activity while still setting rules and boundaries for how to play the game. Patience and consistency are going to help achieve your dog training goals.
